MiTOOL READ ME FIRST INTRODUCTION ============ The MiTOOL diskette provides general-purpose utilities designed to customize or maximize the computer for work. The utilities included are: Utility File Name General Function ------- --------- ---------------- Advanced Disk Manager ADMPLUS.* To configure the hard disk for use and with security controls Anti-Virus ANTIVRUS.* To protect the computer against viruses Keyboard Password KP.COM To lock the keyboard with hot keys Disk Cache MCACHE.EXE To cache disks for speedier disk read/write operation Virus Scan MSCAN.* To search the disks for known viruses Print Spooler MSPOOL.EXE To spool printing System Information SYSINFO.EXE To display the system information For easy manipulation, above utilities have all been integrated into MUM (MITAC Utilities Manager), a program that provides a menu-driven environment for installing and executing these utilities. Other programs and the MS-DOS prompt can also be accessed even without exiting MUM. GETTING STARTED =============== Before you proceed, make a backup copy of the diskette. Use the backup for everyday operation. To start MUM, insert the diskette into the disk drive, type "MUM" and press . You will see the main menu. At the top of the screen are six menu titles. Each title contains a pull-down menu. You perform tasks by choosing commands from pull-down menus and responding to pop-up windows. Either the keyboard or a mouse can be used to move around the screen. To install MiTOOL into the hard disk, select "MiTOOL" from the "Install" pull-down menu. All the utilities will be copied to the hard disk. On-line help is available for MUM as well as for each utility. Before you use or install a utility, read the on-line help to know how the utility works. You can open the "Help" pull-down menu to select a topic or press the key to get help information on the highlighted utility.
